Working in a professional environment during the summer can be a nightmare if you’re not clued up on breathable fabrics or own some basic summer staples. Ladies, there’s need to overhaul your entire wardrobe. Learn how to dress for success with the following tips.
1. Stick to trousers, skirts, and dresses
It’s summer time, so put those tights to the back of your chest of drawers and start wearing dresses and skirts without those pesky winter staples that will leave you hot and bothered. If you’re not a skirt/dress type of gal, you can wear smart trousers. If you work in a more relaxed office, slacks or chinos are also a big hit.
2. It’s all about “breathables”
OK, so “breathables” might not be an actual word, but you know what we’re getting at here. Choose light fabrics that will allow your skin to breathe, especially if your job involves you traveling around the city during the day. Cotton shirts and tops are a no-brainer. Linen tops will also work, but be mindful of creasing – a creased shirt may not be a good look in an important meeting with your boss.
3. Stay warm in the office
This may seem like a weird one, but if you work in a humid climate you’ll know that generally anywhere indoors will have air con, and the temperature will be ridiculously lower inside than it is outside. Great when you first enter a building, but not so great when you’re indoors all day. Keep a light jacket, blazer, or cardigan in your handbag or at your desk, because you’ll never know when you might need it.
